INSTITUTE OF LANGAUGES

The Institute of Languages is affiliated to Mogadishu University. The Institute of Languages (MUIL) offers courses on the major leading international languages in Somalia. Language is an extremely important medium in the seeking and acquisition of knowledge and facilitates clear thinking and reasoning. Language is a vital requirement for the advancement of society especially in most of today’s professions in various sectors of the modern local and global economy. Therefore, MU established MUIL to meet these contemporary requirements.

 MUIL offers up to date English and Arabic Language courses with an integrated approach that is friendly, unique and purposeful for every student. Students will be learning in classes that are small, positive and professionally facilitated by highly qualified teachers. This enables every learner to be able to confidently learn and use language in a professional and proficient way to reach and meet world standards.

Our Language Courses

Currently, the Institute of Languages is offering English and Arabic languages. The Curriculum of English is a Recorded Class Series taught by native teachers and is facilitated by highly qualified teachers in the classrooms, while Arabic is taught by qualified teachers.

English Language Course:

  It is a one year diploma language programme with 3 courses.

1. Elementary: It contains 4 levels, each month covering one level.
2. Pre-intermediate: It contains 3 levels, each month covering one level.
3. Intermediate: It contains 3 levels, each month covering one level.

Arabic Language Course:

It is a one year diploma language programme with 3 courses.

1. Elementary level
2. Intermediate level
3. Advanced level

Schedule of the Classes:

The Institute uses a “Flexible Learning System”. Students have the freedom to choose the classes they want whether it is part-time classes, full- time classes or evening classes. To make sure that you achieve your learning goals we have developed this unique study system and time which allows you to customize your course to suit your own needs, goals and preferences.

  Full-time Classes Saturday to Wednesday

• 8:00am – 10:00am
• 10:00am –12:00pm
• 1:00pm – 3:00pm
• 3:00pm – 5:30 pm

Part-time Classes:

• Thursday 1:00pm – 5:00pm
• Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm

Evening Classes (3 times every week)

• 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Admission

The Institute encourages all prospective language learners to enroll for suitable courses of their choice. The office of the Institute is open and welcomes interested learners for consultation and advice. The office will also give and guide on the requirements for registration. 

Short Courses:

We understand that no two students are the same. People have different reasons for learning languages and have different learning styles and areas of interest. In addition to the actual classes, you can find the following extra short courses.

1. Academic Writing Skills: This course is a three (3) month course, and it will focus on academic writing skills. At the end of the course, the student will get a certificate.
2. Advanced Course: It will be 6 month course. During the study, students will study an advanced English program plus IELTS preparation.
3. Conversation Club: It is a 3 month course and it will focus on advancing the student’s ability to speak fluently under the guidance and supervision of qualified teachers.
